IC/EC surcharges (IC/EC-Aufpreise)

Deutsche Bahn InterCity (IC) and EuroCity (EC) trains are considered long-distance transport. All IC and EC trains that run between Verden and Bremen, and Diepholz and Bremen are subject to a surcharge, VBN fare schedules do not apply. All IC and EC trains that run between Bremen and Augustfehn (Ammerland) are the exception. It is only on this route that the VBN fare schedule applies and the standard IC surcharge is waived.

Conditions

Only for the 7-DayTicket (also for pupils), MonthlyTicket (also for pupils), MIA and MIAplus, VBN JobTicket (also for apprentices) and TIM. You have a valid ticket for the appropriate Price Level.

Use

Valid for one person. Available for 1st and 2nd class. The 1st class surcharge is available in combination with the following tickets: 7-DayTicket, MonthlyTicket, MIA and MIAplus and JobTicket for Adults.

Area of Validity

In the Deutsche Bahn IC and EC trains within the VBN area in the fare zones of your ticket (7-DayTicket (also for pupils), MonthlyTicket (also for pupils), MIA/MIAplus, JobTicket (also for apprentices) and Youth-LeisureTicket). Please note: The IC and EC trains between Bremen Hbf and Augustfehn that stop in Delmenhorst, Hude, Oldenburg, Bad Zwischenahn and Westerstede-Ocholt can be used by passengers without paying a surcharge.

Valid for 7 days, one month or one year, depending on the purchased ticket.

The IC/EC surcharges can be obtained from Deutsche Bahn. They are available as a mobile ticket at ic-ec-aufpreise-bahn.de, as well as in person-operated sales at Deutsche Bahn. You can also view and print out the application here (currently only available in German language): Order form IC/EC surcharge season ticket

Please note that an application for the IC/EC surcharges must have been received by Deutsche Bahn one month before the ticket starts to be valid.
