Declaration on Accessibility

We strive to make this website or mobile application accessible. The Declaration on Accessibility is required by the Bremen Disability Equality Act. The technical requirements for accessibility result from BITV 2.0. This declaration on digital accessibility applies to the website of Verkehrsverbund Bremen/Niedersachsen (VBN) published at www.vbn.de.

How accessible is the offer?

This offer is only partially accessible. The requirements of BITV 2.0 are only partially met. Verification of compliance is based on:

  • A self-assessment carried out in July 2025

Which areas are not accessible?

Subareas that are not accessible or not yet accessible:

Barrier: Text alternative for non-text content
Description: Images and graphics are largely provided with alternative texts. Where this information is still lacking, adding text alternatives to the content is ongoing.

Forms:
Online forms currently still have accessibility gaps, especially when used with keyboards and assistive technologies. Adding structural elements, labels and notes that facilitate use is ongoing. At present, some functions such as input fields, iFrames and error displays are not yet fully accessible or visible. In a few places, legibility is impaired by insufficient contrast.

PDF documents and forms
PDF documents and downloadable forms are in some cases not barrier-free or accessible. If you need a specific PDF file or form that is not yet available in an accessible format, please contact us at web(at)vbn.de or at the address below. Please specify the form in which you need the file and the e-mail address to which we should send it.

Tables
Due to the extensive range of tariffs, we use tables on the website. Although tables are sometimes complex and can be difficult for assistive technologies such as screen readers to understand – and it is not always possible to make them fully accessible – they are indispensable for us. However, we try to make the tables as accessible as possible. This means that we use clear headings and labels and clearly identify the relationships between rows and columns. This should make their use as easy as possible for all users.

External applications
The website integrates various external applications: FahrPlaner, FahrPlaner Deutschland*, Auskunftswidget*, Lob und Kritik-Formular*, Garantieformular* and online shop. These currently still have accessibility gaps, especially when used with keyboards and assistive technologies. At present, some functions such as input fields, iFrames and error displays are not yet fully accessible or visible. In a few places, legibility is impaired by insufficient contrast. (* only available in German)

We are working to improve these points in order to make the website as accessible as possible for all users.

When was the declaration on accessibility prepared?

This declaration was prepared or revised on 22 July 2025.

Would you like to report barriers?

We would like to further improve our offer. Feel free to let us know about your problems and questions regarding digital accessibility.

Contacting the Central Office for Accessible Information Technology

If your contact with the public authority was not successful, you can contact the Central Office for Accessible Information Technology called Zentralstelle für barrierefreie Informationstechnik (only available in German). It also provides further information (only availabe in German) on enforcement.
