How fares are charged:
The fare depends on the length of the journey, i.e. on the number of tariff zones traveled through. For one tariff zone it is fare category A which applies (there are exceptions in Bremen, Bremerhaven and Oldenburg). For two tariff zones it is fare category B which applies (there is an exception in Bremen). For three tariff zones it is fare category C, for four tariff zones category D,
etc. ...
Special aspects:- Within Bremen, Bremerhaven and Oldenburg it is fare category I which applies and for journeys within the city of Bremen on regional trains and regional buses to and from Bremen-North it is fare category II.
- Around Bremen it is the low-priced fare category S for journeys to and from the area just outside the city

Ticket cancellation:
You only have to cancel your ticket once. By getting your ticket stamped in buses and trams when you commence your journey; at the stamping machines at the railway station in the case of
DB Regio before you commence your journey. If you change from one means of transport to another, you do not need to cancel your ticket again. If you are using
Chip Payment there is no stamping.

Period of validity:
For a journey to a destination single tickets (EinzelTicket) and strips of 4 tickets (4er Ticket) in fare categories I, II , A and S are valid for three hours whilst those in fare categories B - G are valid for four hours and single tickets in fare category H are valid up to the destination. In addition, single tickets can be used for any number of journeys in various directions within the first 60 minutes as of cancellation.
There are special conditions within the cities of Bremerhaven (fare category I is valid for any number of journeys up to a maximum of 90 minutes) and Oldenburg (fare category I is valid for any number of journeys up to a maximum of 60 minutes).
