Using your long-distance ticket with BahnCard discount you can travel from your railway station to your destination in the city area in Bremen, Bremerhaven, Oldenburg or Delmenhorst by bus, RegionalBahn or tram free of charge (return journey as well provided you have a return ticket) if your commencing journey is more than 100 km away. You can see this from "+City" on your travel ticket. Please always observe the area of applicability of the CityTicket for Bremen (tariff zones 100 and 101), Bremerhaven (tariff zone 250), Oldenburg (tariff zone 740) and Delmenhorst (tariff zone 720).
Notes:
We would like to point out that co-passenger regulations of DB (children below the age of 15 can accompany passengers free of charge) within the scope of the cooperative agreement CityTicket and BahnCard 100 are not accepted on the integrated public transport in Bremen, Bremerhaven, Oldenburg and Delmenhorst, i.e children accompanying passengers on DB free of charge require a children's single ticket in the cities mentioned.
If the customer's destination proper is outside the included cities (in our case Bremen, Bremerhaven, Oldenburg and Delmenhorst), at least one single ticket or strip of 4 tickets has to be purchased for the entire journey. Purchasing a connection ticket for the CityTicket (BahnCard 25 or 50) is not allowed! However, in the cities of Bremen, Bremerhaven, Oldenburg, Delmenhorst a BahnCard 100 is valid as a season ticket on the integrated public transport. If the holder of such a BahnCard 100 wishes to travel beyond the city limits, he can also purchase a connection ticket in accordance with VBN's tariff regulations and terms of transport.
City mobil mobile for Bremen, Bremerhaven, Oldenburg and Delmenhorst:
Cooperative agreement with Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) creates advantages for long-distance rail customers as of 01.08.2006
As of 01.08.2006 long-distance rail travelers heading for Bremen Hbf, Oldenburg Hbf, Bremerhaven Hbf and Delmenhorst Hbf have the option of purchasing, when buying a DB rail ticket before the journey commences, a connection ticket (single or day ticket in price category I) from the Bremen/Lower Saxony integrated public transport company (VBN) for all the bus and tram services in the city.
Anyone who has so far traveled to Bremen, Bremerhaven, Oldenburg or Delmenhorst by long-distance Deutsche Bahn services and wanted to continue the journey to his or her destination within the city by bus or tram had to purchase the appropriate ticket themselves locally. For passengers unacquainted with the area it meant them first having to study the VBN tariff and the zones of validity of the tickets. This is now made easier by a cooperative agreement between Deutsche Bahn and the German integrated public transport companies, i.e. also with VBN. In their home town customers can now purchase the suitable VBN ticket at the same time as purchasing their rail tickets at the station counter, at the travel bureau or at a ticket machine.
Travelers whose destination is a different station in Bremen (e.g. Bremen-Vegesack) cannot take advantage of this arrangement yet. However, in the long term there are plans to include those stations in the cooperative agreement.
